TATTOO AFTERCARE
INTRO
Proper aftercare is essential to ensure your tattoo heals well, stays vibrant, and remains free from complications. After your session, your artist will guide you through their recommended aftercare process. Following these steps carefully is crucial to prevent irritation, infection, or poor healing.
Savlon, Tattoo Aftercare Balm, and Tattoo Foam Soap are available to purchase in the studio. These products are formulated to support tattoo healing and may be used as part of your aftercare routine.
IMMEDIATE AFTERCARE
Keep the dressing applied by your artist on your tattoo for 1–2 hours. If a second skin has been used, this may be left on for up to 3 days unless otherwise advised.
When removing the dressing, ensure your hands are clean and gently wash the tattoo with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap.
Pat dry with kitchen roll or allow the tattoo to air dry — do not rub.
Apply a thin layer of aftercare product as advised by your artist. Avoid over-applying any cream, as excess moisture can slow healing.
ONGOING CARE (First 7 Days)
Wash the tattoo 2–3 times daily with warm water and gently pat dry before reapplying a thin layer of aftercare balm.
Allow the tattoo to breathe after washing before applying cream. Avoid over-moisturising.
Keep the area clean and ensure clothing or bedding that touches the tattoo is freshly washed.
If a scab forms, do not pick or scratch — allow it to fall away naturally.
HOW TO AVOID REACTIONS & INFECTIONS
Do not submerge your tattoo in water (baths, swimming pools, hot tubs, open water) during healing.
Avoid tight clothing that may rub against the tattoo.
Do not expose your fresh tattoo to direct sunlight.
Do not touch the tattoo with unwashed hands.

Following the appropriate steps after getting a tattoo is extremely important for both your health and the appearance of the tattoo. A tattoo is a piece of art, but it is also a skin procedure, so proper care during the healing process is essential to reduce the risk of infection and scarring.
By following the aftercare advice provided by your artist, you can help ensure your tattoo heals well, stays vibrant, and continues to look great for years to come. While it can be tempting to show off fresh ink immediately, the first few days are the most important when it comes to long-term results. Careful aftercare will help your tattoo look and feel its best.
